About Us

Who We Are

We are a group of followers of Jesus Christ. Given that the Bible is God’s definitive communication with us, it’s at the centre of everything we do. In His Word God tells us how we can know him and live for him through faith in Jesus Christ- this is good news, especially since the Bible shows us that humankind’s greatest need is reconciliation to the God who made us.

We believe that God is honoured as we gather together and as we live out our faith in Jesus from day to day.

We have been serving the local community from our current building since 1942. Baptists have been in Ireland since about 1650. Our church was set up in Ireland at that time. We are part of an Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland (ABCI).

Aims

We aim to bring glory to God as we seek, by means of the Bible and prayer, to reach out, build up and send out.

  • Reach Out: to teach and explain the truth about the Lord Jesus Christ and His claims to all who have not yet turned and trusted in Him.
  • Build Up: to help one another to grow in maturity of understanding and character as we follow the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Send Out: to serve the wider church and the world by sending out some of our people to serve the Lord Jesus Christ across Ireland and overseas.

Vision

We are committed to being a church for all ages – children, young people, young adults, men, women and retired – with a particular focus on mission in Ireland and overseas.

We believe that God has given us special opportunities and responsibilities to be a church-planting church, a training church and a student church.

  • Church Planting: We have, with God’s help, already planted one church (see www.ballycullencc.com). We are currently in the process of planting another church in South Dublin.
  • Training: We have an established Ministry Apprentice scheme, preparing people for ministry particularly within Ireland.
  • Students: We make a conscious effort to welcome students and encourage them in their life and their witness on campus especially through the Christian Unions.
